The IMG Academy baseball program geared up for the second annual 2v2 Hitting Tournament, December 13-14. The tournament features the full time roster divided into 32 teams of hitters. The teams are then divided among four regions of eight – North (post graduates and seniors), South (seniors and juniors), East (juniors and sophomores) and West (freshmen and 8th graders). The hitters face off; taking turns against the Pro Batter Pitching Machine in a bracket style tournament. This year once the dust had settled after a 23-inning game 2 final, the North Region team of Sam Proctor and Dequan Bennett emerged victorious over the top-seeded team of the East, Eric Feliz and Bryson Smith.
Bennett was named the finals MVP by the coaches for his 2-run homer in Game 1 and consecutive doubles in Game 2. Proctor was unanimously named Tournament MVP by the coaches. For their performance, Proctor and Bennett will be immortalized on the 2v2 Hitting Tournament plaque located in the baseball offices.
Congratulations Sam and Dequan!
