IMG Academy's own Nandini Das has been impressive against top competition at the Discovery Open

The second day of the 2013 IMG Academy Nick Bollettieri Discovery Open got underway at IMG Academy with Boys pool play continuing at 9:00 am, and the girls at 2:00 pm. For the players, the day included a special mental conditioning and leadership sessions led by IMG Academy's Head of Leadership, Nonalee Davis; seminars by Prince on racquet technology and equipment for parents and players; and i360 Performance Training led by Cassiano Costa. The second day began with perfect conditions for the boys portion of play, but inclement weather forced the Girls Divisions to finish their matches within the indoor tennis facility.

In the early rounds of the event, the story in the Boys tournament has been in the 11s Division with the outstanding play of the Faris and Zane Khan, twins hailing from New Braunfels, Texas. On the first day of pool play, the brothers, playing in different pools, dominated their competition, each winning their matches by scores of 6-0, 6-0. Today, they each maintained their intensity and wowed spectators, each defeating their second round opponents by 6-0, 6-0 scores once again. After two rounds without yielding a single game, the twins are poised to face one another in the Boys 11s finals.

On the Girls side, the 15s Divisions has seen fierce competition. several players have turned in standout performances. Notably, Tate Schroeder of Centennial, Colo., considered a four-star recruit in the Class of 2016 by, has dazzled the crowds with her  finesse on the courts. On Friday, she outlasted Katarina Kozarov (SRB), 6-7, 6-4, 6-3. Today, she faced off against another standout, India's Nandini Das. Das, an IMG Academy student-athlete who arrived in 2010 as part of the IMG Reliance Student-Athlete Program, has been on the rise in 2013 and her match with Schroeder would put her to the test after Friday's victory over Brooke Lashway (Bradenton, Fla.). Today, Das came through, overcoming a weather interruption to defeat the more experience Schroeder, 5-7, 7-5, 6-4.

The round robin format pool play continues on Sunday at 9:00 a.m. with the Girls Divisions, and 2:00 p.m. for the boys.
