The IMG Academy Bollettieri Tennis program's Yoshihito Nishioka (pictured left accepting Chile F12 Futures trophy) ended 2013 on a high note with back-to-back Futures wins in Chile in mid-December. Nishioka took top honors at the Chile F11 Futures in Quillota, held Dec. 9-14, and followed up with a second title at the Chile F12 Futures in San Feilpe, held Dec. 16-21. In Quillota, Nishioka finished strong with victories over Argentina's Andres Molteni (No. 261 ATP), 6-2, 6-1, and Chile's Hans Poplipnik-Castillo (No. 291 ATP), 7-5, 6-2. The next week in San Felipe, the 18-year old Nishioka had a tougher path to the title. In the semifinal, 24-year old Chilean Ricardo Urzua-Rivera (No. 414 ATP) was able to win a set, one of only two sets Nishioka lost in two weeks. Nishioka advanced to the final, 6-3, 3-6, 6-4. In the final, Nishioka cruised past 28-year old Jorge Aguilar (No. 363 ATP) of Chile, 6-4, 6-2 to secure his second title in as many weeks. With the pair of titles, Nishioka rocketed up the rankings by 144 spots to reach a career-high of No. 442 ATP. The Japanese native ended 2013 with three singles titles in total, after having won the Mexico F11 Futures, his first career pro title, in February.
