Chatham DeProspo came to IMG Academy as a full-time student last fall with the hope of playing college soccer and beyond. While having much success in her home state of New Jersey as a high school freshman, DeProspo made the decision to attend IMG Academy for her sophomore season. Building off her success as a freshman, she continued her hard work off the field and her success on it. It wasn't long before this talented midfielder caught the eyes of college coaches across the country as Division I offers began pouring in.
"To have all the attention has been really crazy," said DeProspo, a midfielder. "It's an awesome feeling and it's an honor to know so many people want you to be a part of their program. It was a lot of hard work and I've had a lot of help from my family and friends. I feel very accomplished that all those schools were interested in me."
After much deliberation, DeProspo has decided to take her talents to the University of Louisville, a top-25 program and 2011 NCAA Tournament Sweet 16 team. While a scholarship to play soccer at a top school is quite an accomplishment, DeProspo is determined that two more years at IMG Academy will help make sure that Louisville is just the beginning:
As ambitious as she is, Chatham is already preparing for Louisville and beyond. Her first goal at Louisville, which reached the Sweet 16 of the 2011 NCAA tournament, is to make an impact as a freshman. DeProspo also dreams of playing for the U.S. in the 2016 Summer Olympics and in the women's World Cup.
"I want at least a tryout for the Olympics and I'm going to bust my butt to get there," DeProspo said.
