For brothers Christian and Jeremy Jones, they saw Spring Break as an opportune time to hone their skills and prepare for next football season. The Jones brothers are stars on their San Antonio East Central High School squad in Texas, and Christian (Class of 2013) is set to attend Cisco Junior College, while younger brother Jeremy (Class of 2014) is beginning his journey through the recruiting process.

“I wanted my Spring Break to be different than everyone else’s – not just going to the beach and things like that – I wanted to just focus on football,” said Jeremy (pictured left) on why he chose to train at IMG Academy.

He continued: “Chris Weinke is here, his resume and the guys he’s trained, and I heard about it from a friend of mine who has attended some of the camps here and that’s what brought me here.”

Older brother Christian echoed Jeremy’s sentiments about choosing IMG Academy to get ready for the season.

“Bettering my craft is what brought me here, and a lot of the great quarterbacks – Cam Newton, RGIII; I’ve seen Matt Barkley here – so working with Chris Weinke and his staff has been great and I’ve been enjoying the time here,” remarked Christian.

Christian also made the choice to dedicate his Spring Break to football.

Christian added, “There’s a whole bunch of quarterbacks that say they want to go to the NFL or play in college, but they’re out there on South Padre in Texas partying and stuff, but I’m here working on my craft and getting better.”

Jeremy and Christian (pictured right) have seen their recruiting profiles grow over the past year. Christian elected to enter junior college, but due to his strong academic standing could be heading to college suitors that include Texas Tech, Louisiana-Lafayette, TCU, Oklahoma State and a number of other colleges after his first semester. Meanwhile, his younger brother is drawing interest from the likes of LSU, Baylor, Louisiana-Lafayette, Rutgers, Duke and many others.

Jeremy and Christian both explained that they have focused on improving their footwork, and learning where they can improve the slightest details.

“My favorite part has been gaining all this knowledge,” Christian explained. “When you do something wrong, you want to know that you’re doing something wrong and not doing it again – and they can tell you what you could do better at in a way that is easy to understand. They tell you that just because you threw a good ball, it could always be better and your fundamentals can always improve.”

Jeremy added, “I’m in the classroom a lot, learning to read coverages and I’m going to utilize it a lot when I go back to San Antonio.”

The Jones brothers returned to San Antonio, Texas following the camp, and are looking forward to the 2014 season.

However, Christian Jones left us with a parting remark: “I wish I had two more years [of high school eligibility], because it would be fun to go here!”
