IMG Academy alums, Mika Miyazato of Japan and Paula Creamer of the United States, both finished in the top 10 of the Wegmans LPGA Championship held June 7-10 at Locust Hill Country Club in Pittsford, N.Y.

During the second LPGA major of the year, Miyazato shot a 70-72-73-69 and finished 4-under par to tie for second. Creamer shot a 70-72-73-71 and finished 2-under par to tie for ninth.

According to the June 11 Rolex Women's World Golf Rankings, Creamer is currently ranked No. 11, while Miyazato is ranked No. 22.

The second-place result was a career-best finish for Miyazato, who began training at IMG Academy in May 2008 before qualifying for the LPGA Tour and turning professional later that year.

“I'm very excited today,” said Miyazato in an interview after the final round. “I tried my best and played aggressive.”

Creamer, who began training at IMG Academy at age 13, was proud of her result as well.

“I am hitting the ball so much better,” Creamer commented during an interview. “I haven't really had that kind of feeling for a while, and it's nice now that it's back.”

Creamer is also optimistic about competing in the upcoming U.S. Women's Open Championship at Blackwolf Run in Kohler, Wis., July 5 - 8, a major she won in 2010.

“I'm looking forward to a good week off, keep grinding away with David (Whelan) and hopefully work a little bit more on my line and my speed with my putts just matching that because I'm going to need that at Blackwolf Run and have a 3 week stretch.”

David Whelan isCreamer's personal coach and the director of IMG Academy's golf program.
