This year, IMG Bolltteiri Tennis Academy will be hosting the 2011 "Little Mo" International Open. The tournament will have Boys and Girls Divisions 12 and under, 11 and under, 10 and under, 9 and under, and 8 and under for Singles, Doubles, and Mixed Doubles. IMG Academy is the perfect spot to host such an exciting junior tournament with the amount of courts and top of the line facilities.
The "Little Mo" tournaments werenamedafter tennis legend, Maureen Connolly. Connolly, also known as "Little Mo", was the first woman everto win a Grand Slam. In 1953, she won all four grand slam tournamentsin the samecalendar year. Unfortunately, a horseback riding accident ended her tennis career. As a result she moved to Dallas, TX and with long time friend, Nancy Jeffet, they began the Maureen Connolly Brinker Tennis Foundation. In 1969, just three years after the opening of her foundation, she lost her battle with cancer at the very young age of 34. Since then, "Little Mo" tournaments have been held in her honor.
Throughout the year, there are several "Little Mo" sectional and regional tournamentsall over America including Puerto Rico,along with a national and international tournament.
The "Little Mo" International Open will take placeon December 9-14, 2011. Each player is guaranteed two singles matches with a consolation back draw. You can nowsign up for the tournament online and registration ends on November 18th at 11:59 pm.
