Ryan Harrison, a 19-year-old IMG Academy Bollettieri tennis program alum, advanced to the Round of 16 at the BNP Paribas Championships in Indian Wells for the second consecutive year by defeating Guillermo Garcia-Lopez of Spain, 6-4, 7-5 last night.
Harrison won his previous two matches in straight sets as well including a second round victory over world #25, Victor Troicki, 7-6, 6-3. Garcia-Lopez defeated world #4 Andy Murray in the second round. Harrison will next face Gilles Simon, who ranked No. 13 in the world.
Harrison is just one of two teenagers ranked inside the top 100 players in the world and he reached the singles semifinals earlier this year in San Jose, California at the SAP Open.
