IMG Academy golf program alumna Isabelle Lendl won the U.S. Women’s Amateur qualifier at the Country Club of York this past Monday, July 8th. Lendl shot a three-under 69, and became one of seven women who will advance to the U.S. Women’s Amateur Championship. The U.S. Women's Amateur is Lendl's next event, and will take place at the Country Club of Charleston in Charleston, S.C., Aug. 5-11.
The University of Florida senior has seven amateur and collegiate victories to her credit, including the 2013 Dixie Amateur Championship. She is currently ranked No. 9 in the Golfweek/Amateur.com standings. In her 2011-12 season, she tied a school record with a six-under par performance on the final day of the NCAA Championship. Lendl finished her 2012-13 season by receiving Golfweek Division-I All-American Honorable Mention Honors, along with teammate Mia Piccio. She recently competed in the LPGA Kraft Nabisco Championship with fellow IMG Academy alumna, Doris Chen, where they were two of nine amateurs invited to participate. Lendl is the daughter of former tennis great, Ivan Lendl, and her younger sister, Daniela, is entering her junior season as a member of the Alabama Crimson Tide women's golf program.
