IMG Academy alumnus Jaclyn Sweeney wins the Symetra Tour's season opener at Longbow Golf Club

After turning pro in 2010, IMG Academy's Jaclyn Sweeney opened the Symetra Tour season with a win

IMG Academy alumnus Jaclyn Sweeney kicked off the Symetra Tour season with a victory, winning the season-opening Gateway Classic on Sunday. She birdied on three of the final four holes to close out the event with a five-uner 67 on the final day to secure the two-stroke win. 

Sweeney, a member of IMG Academy's class of 2008, finished with a seven-under 209 for the event, earning $15,000 and a an exemption into the LPGA Founder's Cup, March 14-17 at Wildfire in Phoenix, Ariz. 

Sweeney is a native of Boston, Mass.,  and was a student-athlete at IMG Academy from 2005-08. She was named as an AJGA honorable mention All-America in 2007. Sweeney went on to sign with Oklahoma State, before later transferring and continuing her collegiate career with Arizona State. She moved into the professional ranks in 2010.
