IMG Academy golfers tally impressive results over the weekend

On the final weekend of Spring Break, IMG Academy golfers hit the links and turned in some impressive results. They included: 

  • Jose Montano, a native of Bolivia, took part in the prestigious Terra Cotta Invitational, held at the Naples National Golf Club in Naples, Fla., Renowned as a top amateur event with a strong field, Montano placed in the top-five with a one-under 215, only three strokes away from the lead. Earlier this year, Montano scored two wins on the IMG Junior Golf Tour (Lake Jovita; Savannah Harbor), and qualified for the Callaway Junior World Golf Championships. 

  • Lisa Unterganschnigg, who comes to IMG Academy from Austria, finished in second place at the American Junior Golf Association's (AJGA) Preseason Junior at St. James Plantation, in Southport, N.C., April 5-7. Unterganschnigg shot solid rounds of 78-79, finishing just two strokes off the lead. Earlier this year, Unterganschnigg won at The Club at Savannah Harbor on the IMG Junior Golf Tour, where she qualified for a spot at the storied Callaway Junior World Golf Championships in San Diego, Calif. Additionally, she is currently No. 4 overall in the IMG Junior Golf Tour points standings for the Girls 15-18 Division. 
  • At the U.S. Kid's Golf Foundation event at Summerfield Crossings Golf Club in Tampa, Fla., IMG Academy junior golfers finished in three of the top four spots. Ariel Yu won the event in a playoff after shooting a 39-total during the one day event. She was joined atop the leadersboard by classmates Sydney-Mercedes Satule and Rachel Carlson, who finished third and fourth, respectively.
