IMG Academy alumnus Rick Lamb earns shot at PGA TOUR card with Web.com victory at LECOM Health Challenge
IMG Academy alumnus Rick Lamb, a member of the class of 2009, earned a big win on the Web.com Tour by winning the LECOM Health Challenge in New York, recently. The final round went to the wire, as Lamb closed with a 9-under 63 to match fellow alumnus Cheng-Tsung Pan (class of 2011), and frequent IMG Academy camp participant Dominic Bozzelli and Rhein Gibson to force a playoff. Lamb would win on the par-5 18th hole, while Pan, Bozzelli and Rhein all tied for runner-up.
With his victory, Lamb took home $108,000 and earned the 21s spot on the money list. The top-25 on the money list at the end of the season will earn PGA TOUR cards.
As a senior at IMG Academy, Lamb signed with Santa Clara University, and transferred to the University of Tennessee in the Southeastern Conference after his sophomore season. During his time with the Volunteers men’s golf program, Lamb earned 2013 PING All-American honorable mention, Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholar and SEC Academic Honor Roll honors, and was a nominee for Volscars Men’s Athlete of the Year.
Lamb is a native of South Bend, Indiana and was coached by Jay Denton while at IMG Academy.
