IMG Academy girls tennis player Ojasvinee Singh impressive in first ITF.
Fourteen-year old IMG Academy student-athlete, Ojasvinee “OJ” Singh competed in her first ITF event at the East African 18 and Under Junior Circuit 2013, held in Nairobi, Kenya, Jan. 27- Feb. 1.
Singh was dominant throughout the singles tournament, winning in straight sets until meeting Belgium's Bovy Marqaux in the semifinals where she lost 2-6, 2-6. However, Singh ended on a high note, besting Serbia's Iva Ivkovic 7-5, 6-1 to win the bronze medal.
In doubles play, Singh was partnered with Mauritius' Emmanuelle de Beer. The pair was in fine form as they won in straight sets in every match prior to the final. In the final, Singh and de Beer were finally tested against top-seeded Belgian duo Marqaux Bovy and Nina Van Oost. Singh and de Beer knocked off Bovy and Van Oost in the final to take home the title, 6-3, 6-7(1),10-4
