IMG Academy to host ‘Welcome Home’ concert on Sept. 27 for American Idol finalist Sam Woolf of Bradenton, Fla
Following a whirlwind American Idol Live! summer tour, American Idol finalist Sam Woolf is ready to return to Bradenton, Fla. for a special ‘welcome home’ concert at IMG Academy on Sept. 27. Proceeds from the concert will support the new Sam Woolf Music Scholarship Fund established via the Del Couch Music Foundation – the organization that helped nurture Woolf’s singing talent at an early age. The new fund is aimed at raising money to give budding musicians like Woolf opportunities they might not otherwise receive to continue developing their craft.
“We’re excited to host this welcome home event, while giving Sam a platform to address a cause near and dear to his heart,” remarked Gary Pluchino, VP, IMG. “This [concert] marks a first for us as it relates to a non-sport event in our stadium, but we couldn’t pass up the opportunity to host this great community-gathering event and support such an important educational initiative in the process.”
The concert will begin at 7:00 p.m. and will feature additional acts including Foundation students Brooke Bonderer, Matt Walden, Paige Merriman, Trevor Bystrom, the group “Western Son,” and more.
There will also be a special guest appearance by rock & roll legend Rick Derringer, who will perform his no. 1 hit “Hang on Sloopy” with Woolf.
“I’m looking forward to returning to Bradenton to see all of my supporters,” remarked Woolf. “It’s so great to be able to return in a position to help others students follow their dreams.”
