This weekend, IMG Academy will be hosting the US Lacrosse Spring Premiere on their campus in Bradenton, FL. The US Men’s Lacrosse team will face Notre Dame, while the US Women’s Lacrosse team will have games against the University of Florida and Notre Dame. In addition, the Men’s and Women’s US Teams will be hosting youth lacrosse clinics for boys and girls over the weekend.
On Saturday, Jan. 14, the US Women’s team will play a double-header against the No. 3 ranked Florida Gators, with games at 3pm and 5pm. A rematch from last year’s Spring Premiere, both teams are hoping to start off their 2017 season on a high note. The US women’s team will rely on their strong offensive unit, made up by Michelle Tumolo, Alex Aust and Alyssa Murray, to put some points on the board against a solid Florida defense, led by Seniors Caroline Fitzgerald and Taylor Bresnahan, both of which were named First-Team Preseason All-Americans by Inside Lacrosse.
The US Women’s team will play again at 10am on Sunday against the No. 8 ranked Notre Dame. The Fighting Irish are led by seniors and IL First-Team Preseason All-Americans Casey Pearsall, in the midfield, and Courtney Fortunato, who plays attack for the US Women’s Lacrosse Team, as well. At 1pm, the US Men’s Lacrosse team will play Notre Dame, who will be training at IMG Academy’s world-class facilities the days before in preparation. Matt Kavanagh, a Notre Dame alum, will suit up against his alma mater for the first time, as an attacker for Team USA.
