IMG Academy's Lydia Green signs with Iowa State Cyclones
The IMG Academy Bollettieri Tennis program's own Lydia Green of Melton, England has signed her National Letter of Intent to join the Iowa State Cyclones women's tennis program. Green earned high marks on and off the field, as she was named the recipient of the 2013 Ascender Award for coach David "Red" Ayme's group in recognition of her hard work and dedication, and graduated with honors as a member of the class of 2013.
AMES, Iowa – Iowa State tennis head coach Armando Espinosa has announced the signing of English teen Lydia Green to a National Letter of Intent.
Green, a Melton, England native, spent the last two years training at IMG Academy in Florida, which has produced six Division I players in the last two years and is widely considered one of the top training academies in the United States.
“With the addition of Lydia we add a player that has been trained at a very high level,” Espinosa said. “She adds depth to our lineup and we expect her to have an impact on our team because she is a hard worker.”
Green was awarded for her consistent and dedicated work ethic as a recipient of the 2013 Ascender Award. She has consistently represented Great Britain as a junior and at the age of 15 captured the singles title in her county.
Green graduated with high academic honors as a student at IMG Academy.
