IMG Academy's Matthew De Heus wins fifth consecutive GSJGA event at Laurel Oak
At only 10-years of age, IMG Academy's Matthew De Heus has taken the local junior golf tours by storm, routinely dominating the Boys 10 and Under competition. After winning his division in Orlando with the US Kids Orlando Tour over the weekend, De Heus struck again quickly. Playing in the Greater Sarasota Junior Golf Association (GSJGA) Boys 10 and Under division, De Heus claimed another triumph, his fifth GSJGA win in a row, at Laurel Oak on Tuesday, July 15. In the single round event, De Heus carded an eight-over 80, cruising to an easy win, and all but guaranteeing that he will be named the GSJGA Regular Tour Boys 12 & Under Player of the Year. With the win, he moved into a tie for the top spot in the points standings for the honor.
De Heus comes to IMG Academy from San Francisco, Calif. via the Netherlands. He will look to continue his winning ways during the upcoming academic year as a full-time IMG Academy golf program student-athlete, but looks to capture GSJGA Player of the Year honors before beginning classes in the fall.
