Mike Daniel Enjoying Move to IMG Academy
6-foot-0, 200-pound Junior Running Back Michael Daniel made the move this summer from Brookings, S.D. to Bradenton, FL where he is now enrolled at the IMG Academy.
IMG Academy is in its first season football season. The programs Director and Head Coach is former Heisman Trophy winner Chris Weinke. IMG is well known for its success in training Tennis, Soccer and Golf athletes as well as hosting some of the nation’s largest football camps and combines such as the All-Madden Mini Camp.
IMG has a roster full of athletes from all over the Unites States and even into Canada.
Michael says the transition to and move two months ago to IMG has been a smooth one. “It’s gone really well. I’ve been adapting and getting better playing with some of the best athletes around the country” Michael said.
With only a couple games into the season, the Ascenders are off to a quick start and currently undefeated. Daniel says he has had limited opportunities so far with the early bulk of the carries going to 2014 4-star Alabama commit Bo Scarbrough.
With much time to learn and more reps to come, Michael knew it was an opportunity he had to take to ultimately better his skills playing with and against the top competition weekly, and ultimately it would lead to more exposure. “I knew this would be a great opportunity. There are top level athletes here and in the state of Florida that I get to compete against.”
September 1st was the first date collegiate coaches could start reaching out to 2015 prospects, and three jumped on contacting Daniel right away. “West Virginia, Minnesota and Washington all reached out to me right away last week” the RB told Gopher247.
Daniel had previously received interest from these three schools before the move to IMG along with an impressive list of many other schools, including; Auburn, Oregon, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Iowa State, Mizzou and others.
It’s still very early in his recruitment, and Michael says everything is really wide open for him.
Daniel hopes to start taking some unofficial visits to schools that are now in his area this fall. He attended Florida’s Friday Night Lights camp just over a month ago and said Florida, Florida State and Auburn were just a few of the schools he hopes to stop and see this fall.
