The IMG Academy Tennis winner of the Gatorade G-Award/IMG Academy Athletes of the Week Award is Paulina Baum from Ecuador.
How long have you been playing tennis for?
I am 12 and I have been playing since I was six.
Who is your coach?
Coach Julio Zavala.
What is your favorite thing about IMG Academy and why?
I really like how each coach sees you individually. This camp is really good at tennis so they give you patience and give each kid what they need. Plus the academy in its own is really good with services and everything is really nice. It’s perfect.
Do you have any pre-game rituals that help you prepare for a big game?
I always like to prepare myself mentally. I get really nervous before important matches so I always tell myself “I can do this, I’ve done this before."
What professional athlete inspires you the most?
What is your favorite thing to do after you win a game?
I never celebrate in the wrong way in front of the court. I always congratulate the other person and sometimes I go eat with my parents.
What motivates you to push through a tough practice?
For me it’s a privilege to be here. The training here is really good and I want to get better. So when I am having a hard time, I just think that I should appreciate the two weeks I have here!
