Samantha Knapp of Washington D.C. wins IMG Academy Girls Soccer Gatorade G-Award Week of July 22
Every week of camp, IMG Academy selects the Athlete of the Week sponsored by Gatorade. The honoree is bestowed the G-Award in recognition of the athlete who displays Heart, Hustle and Soul, and exhibits a true desire to reach their true athletic potential.
The IMG Academy Girls Soccer winner of the Gatorade G-Award for the week of July 22 is 16-year-old Samantha Knapp from Washington D.C.
How long have you been playing soccer for?
I've been playing soccer since I was three-years-old.
Who is your coach?
Coach Kim Dean.
What is your favorite thing about IMG Academy and why?
My favorite thing about IMG Academy is the intensity of the soccer. I love it. I love coming and being able to know that I'm improving and getting better everyday.
Do you have any pre-game rituals that help you prepare for a big game?
Before games, I listen to music, and think about the game and what I want to achieve.
What professional athlete inspires you the most?
The professional athlete that inspires me the most is definitely Michelle Akers because when she was playing, she was just always strong and whenever she got hurt, she would just come back and play.
What is your favorite thing to do after you win a game?
After I win a game, I like to go to 7-11 and get a slurpee with my dad.
What motivates you to push through a tough practice?
What motivates me to push through a tough practice is knowing that I'm getting better and bringing myself to the next level.
