Seven student-athletes represent IMG Academy at Team Florida Showcase
This weekend in Jupiter, Fla., more than 525 lacrosse players competed in the Team Florida Showcase in front of 60 college coaches. IMG Academy was represented by seven of its players in attendance at the event including: senior Cody Gray; senior goalie Parker Smith; junior attack Jonathan Thelen; sophomore defense Anuar Zarur; sophomore midfield Tyler Liotta; Freshman long stick midfield Jude Sedillo; and freshman midfield/attack Ian Macleod. Every eligible IMG Academy player made the All-Star game, which was played on Sunday night.
“The skills and athleticism of our IMG Academy student-athletes were certainly on display this past weekend, and many college coaches were impressed by their performance and impact,” said Bill Shatz, Director of Lacrosse, IMG Academy and a Director with Team Florida.
Shatz continued, “IMG Academy’s players are quickly gaining recognition for their style of play, intensity, and field IQ. It was exciting to see how well they excelled.”
Team Florida selects a team in the U15 division to play in the Tri-State Invitational in Princeton, N.J., as well as the U15 US Lacrosse Championships at the Disney Wide World of Sports. While the Team Florida coaches will select four teams from the U17 and U19 divisions to compete in the Battle of the Hotbeds, July 21-24.
