Peter Barba will be an eighth-grader at Notre Dame Elementary School in Ohio in the fall.

Meet Peter Barba. Peter, who is from Ohio, has been spending the past two weeks of his summer waking up at seven in the morning to get up and make himself a better basketball player. Barba has been training at the IMG Academy basketball program with other students from all over the world.

"I love it here, I have had a great time," says Barba, "I can't wait to come back. The coaches really encourage us, and we train pretty hard, but it's fun and worth it."

Barba has been eating, sleeping, playing basketball, and working out at the IMG Performance Center for the past two weeks, and can see a definite improvement in his game.

"My shooting has really improved since I have been here. I worked a lot on my footwork leading up to my shot, and I have a lot more confidence in myself now."

Barba has given credit both to the many hours on the court and the work at IMG Academy Athletic & Personal Development programswith the mental conditioning coaches for the increased confidence in his game.

Despite his improved jump shot and confidence, Barba says that the best aspect of his game is putting the ball on the floor and getting to the hoop. When asked if he can slam it home he responded:

"Yeah on an eight-and-a-half foot hoop, I can dunk it on my little brother!"

Hopefully someday you will be able to dunk on a full size rim, over a seven-footer.

When Barba is not on the court, you might be able to find him in an abundance of places: on the golf course, the baseball diamond, or running a cross country race. But most likely you will find him by the pond in the back of his house pulling in a whole bunch of bass.

"My friends and I like to fish a lot," he says, "one day we caught about 50 fish in the pond, which is probably our record."

Whether it's hitting a homer, casting a line, or hitting a jump shot, we wish you luck in anything you do.

Keep working hard!
