In the end, the D-backs won out over the Wildcats.
After a lengthy decision-making process, IMG Academy baseball program alum Blake Perry this week signed a contract with the Arizona Diamondbacks, receiving a $500,000 signing bonus. Perry chose the professional route over the University of Kentucky.
Said Tom Allison, Arizona's Director of Scouting:
"We are delighted to have signed Blake Perry, Tyler Green and Ty Linton today to give us 33 Draft picks under contract from the 2010 First-Year Player Draft," Allison said. "We are looking forward to developing all of the signed Draft picks through our player development system and seeing them play at Chase Field in the foreseeable future."
A powerful right-handed pitcher, the 6-foot-5 Perry was drafted in the 6th round by the Diamondbacks after going 2-0 with 29 strikeouts in 29 innings for the IMG Academy baseball program last season.
