Both known for providing elite developmental training, the USL W-League and IMG Academy soccer program will team up for the USL W-League Combine Dec. 16-19 in Bradenton.
IMG Academy soccer program will serve as the host venue for the event, which will attract domestic and international coaches, including coaches for Women's Professional Soccer.
From a W-League press release:
"I am excited that the 2010 W-League Combine will be able to make use of IMG's wonderful new nine-field facility," Mellor said. "It is important that we provide our combine participants with the best soccer fields and soccer environment for them to perform at their highest levels. We are adding international club coaches to assist our W-League coaches in managing the combine teams, which will give our players the opportunity to showcase themselves for not only W-League and WPS scouts, but international professional club scouts as well."
The W-League launched in 1995 and now features 29 teams. It's widely known as the top developmental soccer league for women. Notable alums include U.S. Women's National Team players like Abby Wambach, Heather O'Reilly, Tobin Heath, Lauren Cheney and Brittany Taylor.
The event will offer another chance for the IMG Academy soccer program to show its nine new pristine fields opened this summer.
