Leading his team in multiple offensive categories, IMG Academy baseball program alum and Charleston RiverDogs catcher J.R. Murphy was chosen to participate in the South Atlantic League All-Star Game.
In his 2nd year in the minors, Murphy is batting .309 (2nd on team) with 29 RBI (T-1), 20 doubles (1) and 6 home runs (T-3) for the single-A RiverDogs. The All-Star game is June 21 in Salisbury, MD.
Murphy, son of IMG Academy Director of Admissions, Carolina Murphy, grew up in the program. During his senior season, the IMG Academy baseball program went 30-1, winning four tournaments, with Murphy winning MVP in all four. He was drafted in the 2nd round of the MLB Draft by the New York Yankees.
