The IMG Academy Golf program's Latanna Stone added another trophy to her collection by winning the 13-15 division of the FSGA event at Timacuan Golf and Country Club in Lake Mary, Oct. 5-6. Twenty-six girls teed off in the event, and Stone found herself in a battle with Haydyn Gibson and Kelsey Zeng, both of Orlando, Fla. Stone got off to a hot start, tying for the low round with a 71 to open, matched only by Gibson.
On the second day, Stone and Gibson got off to good starts. Gibson took a one stroke lead after nine holes with an even-par 36, while Stone turned at one over par. On her final back nine, Gibson made bogeys on holes 1, 5, 6 and a double bogey on 2 to fall several strokes behind. However, Zeng, started the day two strokes back, and after a 35 on her front nine she found herself in contention. On her final nine, Zeng made bogeys on holes 2 and 6, leaving her two strokes back of Stone. Stone made par on her final nine holes to secure her second FSGA victory of 2013 with an even-par 144 total.
