During the NCAA early signing period, six IMG Academy Baseball student-athletes signed an NCAA National Letter of Intent to their respective colleges at a special ceremony on National Signing Day.
The signees included:
Willie Rios (Waterford, Conn.) signed with the University of Maryland baseball program. Rios is the No. 1 overall ranked prospect in Connecticut, and No. 9 LHP prospect nationally (according to Perfect Game). Rios has earned his place among the nation’s best, earning invitations to many of the nation’s elite showcases in 2013, including the Under Armour Baseball All-American game, WWBA World Championship, Area Code Games, East Coast Professional Showcase, and more. During the 2013 season, Rios helped lead his high school squad to an Eastern Connecticut Conference (ECC) Small title and the No. 1 overall seed in the ECC tournament.
Andrew DiLacqua (Lakewood Ranch, Fla.) signed with the NCAA No. 13-ranked Arizona State University baseball program. This year, DiLacqua led his FTB (Florida Travel Ball) Worth squad to the 2013 USSSA World Series Championship, and was named a 2013 Perfect Game All-Underclass High Honorable Mention.
Luke Bonfield (Skillman, N.J.) signed with the NCAA No. 12-ranked Arkansas Razorbacks baseball program. Bonfield is the No. 1-ranked outfielder prospect and No. 3 overall prospect in New Jersey (No. 57 overall nationally) according to Perfect Game. Bonfield has twice earned Perfect Game Underclass All-American honors, and earned invitations to many elite national showcases. Bonfield was named to the All-Tournament teams at the 2013 Perfect Game BCS Finals in Ft. Myers, Fla. and the WWBA 17U National Championship in Atlanta, Ga.
Taylor Lane (Chesapeake, Va.) signed with the University of Florida baseball program. The 6-foot-2 shortstop came to IMG Academy ranked as the No. 8 overall prospect and No. 1 shortstop in Virginia for the Class of 2014, according to Perfect Game. Lane was named to the 2013 Perfect Game Underclass All-American 3rd Team earlier this year.
Brian Rapp (Medham, N.J.) signed with the Boston College baseball program. Rapp is one of New Jersey’s top baseball prospects for the Class of 2014, and was recognized by Perfect Game as a 2012 and 2013 Underclass All-American Honorable Mention, as well as by Under Armour as a 2013 Pre-Season All-American.
Stephen Hueber (Bedford, Va.) signed with Belmont Abbey College (N.C.). Belmont Abbey is a member of the NCAA Division II Conference Carolinas, and reached the Division II College World Series in 2009.
