IMG Academy soccer program celebrates 2012/13 season at annual awards banquet
IMG Academy's Director of Soccer, Scott Dean, and Director of Girls Soccer, Bobby Johnston, and coach Matt Baehr traveled to Japan recently to hold a coaching clinic for aspiring players and coaches. The clinic took place at the Global Arena in Munakata city, Fukuoka, Kyushu, Japan, May 17-19. During the three-day clinic, more than 130 boys and girls players and coaches from around the country took time out to learn from IMG Academy's Dean and Johnston, while more than 1,200 spectators took in the action.
On Tuesday, in a special ceremony, IMG Academy dedicated its Center for Personal Development to the late, legendary coach John Wooden. The facility will be known as the John R. Wooden Center for Character & Leadership, and will continue to provide education and training to student-athletes in areas like leadership and mental toughness.
On Thursday, May 23, IMG Academy commemorated 168 of its student-athletes who committed to the colleges of their choice at a special ceremony at the State College of Florida’s Neel Performing Arts Center.
Marlon Hairston graduated from IMG Academy in 2012 and signed with one of the most respected soccer programs in the nation, the University of Louisville. Hairston quickly established himself within the team and had a great freshman season. Marlon added another accolade to his season when he was called up to the U.S. U20 National Team training camp as they prepare for the 2013 FIFA U-20 World Cup.
