About Scott Dean

Dean has been at IMG Academy since 2010 and is the Director of the Boys Soccer program. He has played and coached soccer all his life and before leading the program at IMG Academy he was the Head Coach at the University of Rhode Island and at Stony Brook University. He was extremely successful at both locations with both teams attaining national rankings and many of the players have gone on to pro careers both in the US and abroad. 


  • BS in Business Management from Green Mountain College -1989
  • USSF "A" License


University of Rhode Island:

  • Team Ranked nationally in the top 5 of the NCAA Division I soccer poll
  • 6 players went on to have a pro career both in the US and abroad
  • Andy Williams was one of those players that is still playing in the MLS, played for the Jamaican national team and went on to play in the 1998 world cup
  • 4 All-Americans

Stony Brook University:

  • Led the first team in University history to an NCAA Division I top 25 ranking, in the second season of Division I competition
  • Was the University Coach of the year
  • Conference coach of the year
  • NCAA Division I Regional coach of the year
  • NCAA Division I National coach of the year finalist
  • 12 players to move on and have a pro career both in the US and abroad
  • Two players went on to represent their National teams

Youth Coaching:

  • Won the U17 national championship in 2000, most prestigious national championship in youth soccer at the time
  • Runner up in the national championship on the girls U19 side in 2000
  • U19 boys National championship 3rd place finish in 2002
  • Have won 5 state level championships
  • 2 Regional championships
  • Personally placed over 200 players at the collegiate level
  • Has secured over 2 million dollars in athletic scholarships over the last 3 year
