Qualifying events begin Friday, November 28.  Main draw events for Boys’ and Girls’ 18s, 16s and 14s will be played December 1 – December 7, 2008.  The main draw for the 12 and under division is November 29 – December 5th.  Spectators and media are welcome throughout the event.  No admission will be charged.

Founded in 1987 by the “Grandfather” of international junior tennis, Eddie Herr (1907-2000), the Eddie Herr International is one of the largest junior tennis championships in the world.   "This event just gets bigger and bigger every year," Eddie Herr proudly declared shortly before his death. "The best juniors come from all over the world to play, and the successful ones go on to become a force in pro tennis."

An indomitable force with a love of the game, Herr nurtured and promoted junior tennis for more than fifty years.  Prior to founding the Eddie Herr International Junior Tournament, he created the Orange Bowl Junior Championships in 1947, the Sunshine Cup in 1958, and the Continental Cup in 1976.

Herr was a recipient of the USTA-Florida Lifetime Achievement Award, and was named to the Florida Sports Hall of Fame, and the Florida Tennis Hall of Fame.

Previous winners include Maria Sharapova, Kim Clijsters, Xavier Malisse, Anna Kournikova, Marcelo Rios, Andy Roddick, Nicole Vaidisova and Jelena Jankovic.
