The IMG Academy Golf Program's Latanna Stone kicked off 2014 with a win after taking top honors at the 19th annual Innisbrook Christmas Junior, held on at Innisbrook Golf Resort in Tampa, Fla., Jan. 1-3. The 12-year old Stone hit the links on the renowned Copperhead Course, home of the Valspar Championship presented by BB&T, and turned in scores of 77, 78, 76 for a three-stroke victory over Xinying Wang of Freemont, Calif. and Emmy Martin of Odessa, Fla., who tied for second with totals of 234 each.
Stone, a native of Ruskin, Fla., qualified for the inaugural Drive, Chip & Putt Championship, which will be played the Sunday prior to the start of the Master's in Augusta, Ga. in 2014. Founded by the USGA, PGA TOUR and Master's Tournament Foundation, the Drive, Chip & Putt Championship will feature 88 of the top junior golfers who qualified through a series of local qualifying events in July. The event will be broadcast on The Golf Channel.
