About Me

Mel Mahler brings 40 years of coaching experience to IMG. He stepped from the playing field upon graduation from High Point College into the coaching profession. He led BGSU to three conference tournament championships, three NCAA tournament appearances and three national Top 20 final season rankings. He has been awarded Conference Coach of the Year twice, and Regional Coach of the Year in 1996. He guided his St. Bonaventure team to consecutive conference tournament appearance after the program’s 10 –year absence.

He has served as ODP Head Coach in Ohio and New York for U15 and U18 teams as well as club coach for clubs in both states. He served as a Regional Chair of the NSCAA (now the United Soccer Coaches) All-America committee and a member of the NSCAA regional ranking committee. Mahler also has been a site administrator for the U.S.S.F. National Coaching School and a director for the U.S. Youth Soccer Association's Olympic Development camps during his tenure at BGSU.
