College Planning and Placement

Your College Roadmap

We know college is important to you, which is why it is important to us, too. We start college planning early and help our students develop a personalized roadmap that sets realistic goals for their future. The dedicated staff at our College Planning and Placement Center (CPPC) educates and mentors each student-athlete and family about college exam preparation, athletic recruiting and NCAA compliance.

Quick Facts

  • We host over 200 college coaches and 100+ college and university admissions professionals on campus annually.  We provide academic guidance in selecting course and preparing for PSAT’s, SAT’s, and ACT’s
  • We coordinate recruiting efforts, call coaches, manage the IMG Academy portal, and work with those in each sport assigned to that task
  • We communicate with parents and include them in many of our student meetings
  • We facilitate NCAA rules and eligibility education and serve the entire community as our NCAA compliance resource
  • We stay in touch with alumni – those transferring, those needing guidance and support, those now preparing for grad school

college planning

The College Planning and Placement Center works with all IMG Academy student-athletes starting in 9th grade (including post-graduates) to create an individualized road map for finding and gaining acceptance to the college that best fits their goals and needs. It consists of College Planning, Athletic Recruiment, SAT Prep, and NCAA Compliance Education.

College Planning

We support each student during their college search and application process by communicating with students, families and advisors and coordinating meetings with college admissions staff. We also provide ongoing resources such as the Naviance Family connection (an online counseling tool), campus visits, and college fairs.

Athletic Recruiting

Our expert athletic recruiting liaisons guide our students through the college recruiting process and encourage students to meet with college coaches and attend campus events. We also educate our student-athletes about NCAA eligibility, compliance and regulations.

IMG Academy students take a year-long, 40-hour SAT preparatory course that begins in the spring semester of their sophomore year and continues through the end of the fall semester of their junior year. The course is scheduled to coincide with the optimal timing for students to begin preparing for the test and also complete their preparation when they are expected to begin taking the SAT. Preparation includes critical strategies, test-taking tips, topic-specific lessons and online prep courses.

NCAA Compliance Education

The CPPC works to educate each student, family, coach, and staff member with the nuances of NCAA eligibility. The NCAA (National Collegiate Athletic Association) is made up of college and university member institutions, which develop and implement rules and regulations to determine participation and protect fairness in every sport. Our staff offers educational workshops, monitors academic certification, tracks recruitment activities, and oversees amateurism issues so that students, parents, and college coaches can have full confidence that an IMG Academy graduate will have a complete understanding of the rules in place that govern their eligibility to play at the next level.

It was a team effort from the staff here in helping us to improve. Everyone did their part, whether it was nutrition, mental training or on the field, everyone played a big part in our development… this place really helps you develop and get better in any sport you want to play.”
