Tyler Granelli Named Head Coach of IMG Academy National Boys Lacrosse Team

BRADENTON, Fla. (June, 23 2026) – IMG Academy, the world's leading sports education brand, has announced Tyler Granelli as the new Head Coach of its National Boys Lacrosse team, adding one of the sport's accomplished coaches to a program that continues to build momentum through elite coaching, player development and national success.

Granelli brings more than 12 years of coaching experience across the high school and collegiate ranks. He joins IMG Academy after coaching at St. John's College High School, Jacksonville University, Florida Southern College, Randolph-Macon College, and his alma mater, Salisbury University.

As both a player and coach, Granelli has built an impressive championship résumé. During his collegiate playing career, he won three NCAA Division III National Championships before returning to Salisbury as an assistant coach and helping lead the program to another national title in 2016. In recognition of his accomplishments as a student-athlete, he was inducted into the Salisbury University Athletics Hall of Fame in 2025. Throughout his coaching career, he has helped develop more than 25 All-Americans, 30 All-Conference selections, and several Conference Players of the Year.

Granelli's addition is the latest investment in an IMG Academy lacrosse program that continues to establish itself among the nation's premier destinations for student-athletes seeking elite training, academics and college preparation. The program celebrated another successful year in 2026, with 35 graduating student-athletes committing to continue their lacrosse careers at the collegiate level, including 20 to NCAA Division I programs, six to Division II and nine to Division III schools.

IMG Academy's impact was also evident at the highest levels of the game. Twenty-two alumni competed in the 2026 NCAA Men's and Women's Lacrosse Championships across all divisions, while 2022 alumnus Braden Erksa was selected No. 32 overall in the fourth round of the 2026 Premier Lacrosse League Draft, becoming just the second IMG Academy lacrosse alumnus drafted into the PLL. At the high school level, IMG Academy had eight student-athletes represent their countries during the inaugural Rivalry Challenge at USA Lacrosse Headquarters.

IMG Academy continues to make significant investments across its lacrosse program to provide student-athletes with unmatched development experience. In addition to appointing Granelli, IMG Academy recently welcomed nationally respected coach Jake Naso as Head of Camps and Clinics. It expanded its coaching staff with Ryan Richters as Head of Goalies. IMG Academy is also conducting a national search for a Head Varsity Coach, further strengthening its leadership team ahead of the upcoming season.

Beginning in Fall 2026, IMG Academy will also launch a new Post-Graduate (PG) Boys Lacrosse program, providing student-athletes with an additional pathway to develop academically, athletically and personally while preparing for collegiate competition. These coaching additions complement recent investments in IMG Academy’s lacrosse facilities, including renovated competition fields featuring new scoreboards, in-ground shot clocks and updated branding, underscoring IMG Academy's commitment to delivering a world-class student-athlete experience.
