On Saturday, IMG Academy student-athlete, Whitney Osuigwe, became the fifth American tennis player to win the girls’ title at the 2017 French Open at RolandGarros in Paris, France. In the second-ever all-American final, 15-year-old Osuigwe defeated 17-year-old Claire Liu, 6-4, 6-7 (5), 6-3.
This match marked the first Grand Slam junior final of Osuigwe’s career, and makes her the ninth-youngest girls singles champion at the French Open to date.
