Jayson and Jackson Werth have a special father-son dynamic. From an early age, Jackson developed his love for the sport of baseball while watching his father, Jayson, compete on TV. When Jackson was old enough, he no longer just cheered on his father from his living room, but spent time in the dugout with his father and his teammates and, even fielded ground balls while some of MLB's greatest stars took batting practice.
Jayson Werth was a first-round draft pick of the Orioles in 1997 who went on to play at the Major League level for the Toronto Blue Jays, Los Angeles Dodgers, Philadelphia Phillies, and Washington Nationals. He won the World Series with the Phillies in 2008, made the NL All-Star team in 2009, and, after finishing his 15-year MLB career in 2017, he was named to the Nationals' Ring of Honor in 2018. Perhaps his proudest accomplishment, however, is guiding his son, a current IMG Academy baseball student-athlete, through his early career and providing him with an opportunity to shape his own legacy.
