IMG Academy alumnus J.R. Murphy, a second round draft selection of the New York Yankees in 2009, had a big day at the plate on Tuesday when the Yankees faced the Philadelphia Phillies. In the top of the seventh inning, Murphy blasted a home run to deep centerfield off of the Phillies pitcher. With a man on base, it gave the Yankees a 3-1 lead before the Phillies answered back in the bottom of the seventh to retake the lead. Murphy doubled in his next at-bat, finishing the day 2-for-2. Through two games, Murphy has a .667 batting average, with a .1000 on base percentage.
